Weekly Market Recap – June 29, 2026
With the World Cup kicking off and America’s 250th anniversary around the corner, there is a lot to celebrate here in the U.S. World Cup attendance figures have been very strong so far, averaging over 65,000 attendees per game. Attendance is on pace to surpass the all-time World Cup cumulative tournament attendance record, which was set the last time the tournament was played on U.S. soil in 1994. This immense fan interest has sent ticket prices soaring, with the average get-in price for group stage games around $1,000, according to TicketData.com. That’s up over 1,600% from1994, when tickets averaged $58 for the entire tournament. The significant difference in the face value of tickets between the 2026 and 1994 tournaments got us thinking about how prices (or index levels) of other items have changed over the last three decades. And, in the spirit of America’s upcoming anniversary, we looked at quintessential American items – hamburgers, homes, cars
– and compared them to overall CPI and wage inflation over the same period.
